I was approached by Age to create a poster for the tour of his musical extravaganza: Congress Of Animals. The tour ventured the length of New Zealand in a non-stop caravan of epic animalistic proportions. Naturally, I was thrilled to dive into manifesting the Strange Caravan!

After exploring a few directions, I created this bizarre caravan construction, covered in animals, and rolling across the surface of Mars like gypsy colonists. I sourced images of the actual martian surface and images of the farthest reaches of space we can observe, courtesy of NASA, thank you NASA.

I scoured vintage magazines, and trusty pinterest, for pictures of caravans. Once I had established a nice minimal illustration style and created my assets to work with, I then starting welding them together (in photoshop).

Along with the posters I created nice web friendly versions to be used across social media platforms and alternates for the various tour locations through the nation, as well as this nice wee animation of the caravan in motion.
